Why you’ll love it

Big cats at golden hour. Dust, acacia silhouettes, and a horizon full of wild. A GoSmart specialist tailors the route, the stays, and the pace to you.

Why it works

The dawn is loud with it: a plain running to the horizon churning with wildebeest, dust and hooves and the low grunt of a million animals on the move, a lioness watching from the grass. The Great Migration is one of the world's greatest wildlife spectacles, and you are parked in the middle of it.

Worth knowing

The migration is always moving, so timing is everything. Calving on the southern plains around February, dramatic river crossings in the north roughly July to October, and the herds shift with the rains, so pick your camp for where the animals will be, not just the lodge.
A good guide and the right location beat a fancy tent, since they put you where the action is at first light. Mornings and late afternoons are prime, so plan for early starts and a midday rest.
The dry season, roughly June to October, concentrates animals at water and is peak and priciest, while the green season is lush, quieter, and full of newborns. Either way it is warm days and cool mornings, so pack layers in neutral colors.

About the place

The Serengeti spans northern Tanzania into Kenya's Masai Mara, reached via Arusha and a light aircraft, so build in the internal flight. Many pair it with a couple of nights on Zanzibar to unwind after.
