Why you’ll love it

Honky-tonks, hot chicken, and a band in every doorway. A GoSmart specialist handles the group logistics so nobody has to be the planner.

Why it works

It is bachelorette central for a reason, with pedal taverns, rooftop bars, and hot chicken within a few blocks. But weekday nights still bring world-class players to the same free stages with a fraction of the crowd.

Worth knowing

Tip the band. There is a bucket, and many Broadway bands rely heavily on it, so tossing in a few dollars is appreciated, especially if you are requesting songs. Five to ten dollars a set keeps the room on your side.
The honky-tonks are free, with no cover and live music from late morning to 2am as you bar-hop floor to floor. Most bars take cards, but carrying a little cash makes tipping musicians easy.
Spring and fall are the comfortable windows. Summers are hot and humid, and Broadway packs shoulder-to-shoulder, so April and May or September and October are easier.
Broadway is the loud part, but the real music history is a short ride away: the Ryman, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and RCA Studio B, where Elvis recorded.
