Why you’ll love it

Huskies, silence, and the aurora as a ceiling. A GoSmart specialist tailors the route, the stays, and the pace to you.

Why it works

The dogs are screaming to run, and then the moment you pull the snow hook they go silent and all you hear is the hiss of the runners and their breath fogging in the cold. The forest slides past in blue shadow, and somewhere overhead the sky might just start to move.

Worth knowing

December through March is when the snow is reliable and the trails are set. Temperatures often sit well below freezing, so thermal base layers, mittens over gloves, and covering every bit of skin are not optional.
The northern lights need clear, dark skies and a bit of luck, so no one can promise them on a given night. Booking several nights well away from town lights gives you the best odds.
Most camps have you help harness and feed your team, which is half the joy. These are working huskies, not pets, and they are happiest when they are pulling.

About the place

Lapland spans the Arctic north of Finland, Sweden, and Norway, a land of frozen lakes, reindeer, and long winter nights that make it one of the best places on Earth to chase the aurora.
