If you are looking for one of the best FREE activities in Chicago, the zoo is the perfect attraction to check out! I have been multiple times and it never gets old. My favorite exhibits include:

• Red pandas: they are ADORABLE!
• The new baby rhino: the zoo recently welcomed Hazina, a baby rhino that is only a few months old. If you are lucky, you might get to see her with her mom on exhibit!
• Tawny frogmouth: probably the most random exhibit on my list. Located in the bird house, this funny-looking Australian owl always brightens my day!

If you are planning on visiting the zoo, I would try to do so during the summer or fall, as it tends to be too cold in the winter (although they do remain open). Completing the zoo can take anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on how long you spend on each exhibit. If you are visiting in the summer, remember to bring sunscreen and stay hydrated! You are also allowed to bring your own food/drinks, so no need to rely on the overpriced snacks inside.
